Empath, Manuel Alfonso Rodrigo de la Rocha, is a Spanish mutant who can sense and control the emotions of those around him. He often used this ability to torment Tarot who had a crush on him, as well as manipulate other female team members like Magma. He even tried to influence Emma Frost, who decided to show him her true nature, which stopped him from trying that again. Like the rest of the Hellions, Empath was trained to be the Hellfire Club's equivalent of the New Mutants or the X-Men.
